NetApp on NetApp

How NetApp IT Manages Unstructured Data with StorageGRID

Like other organizations, NetApp IT must support the growing appetite for non-traditional workloads from cloud-based applications with access to data inside data centers, remote offices, and the public cloud. It is a growing demand for unstructured data that sprawls, is seldom updated, and meant to be accessed by multiple application services across geographical boundaries. To meet the challenges of customer-facing apps, IT storage engineers designed StorageGRID to load large unstructured data, and then extended the design to support and deliver the same upload performance regardless of global location.

In addition to how they use StorageGRID features like CloudMirror, multi-part upload, and notification, the team shares how they created an “S3 as a Service” offering using StorageGRID as an automated self-service on their internal CloudOne platform.
